I originally started working in Marketing for a number of the UK’s blue chip organisations, with my final employed role as the Head of European Marketing for American Express in London.
After the birth of my second child, after experiencing the benefits of alternative medicine, I decided to train as a Homeopath, I became fully qualified in 2006.
Following a number of failed attempts to find suitable nursery provision for my children I decided to open up my own Nursery in 2009. The Nurseries run with a wholly ethical philosophy, we respect our environment and strive to do everything in our powers to ensure that not only do we operate with as little impact on the environment as possible but our children also understand and act under this mantra. We use essential oils, have a kitchen garden and use only natural cleaning products. We do not compromise – the children are our totally focus.
We now have six nurseries, with over 600 families and look after up to over 300 children each day. Within 10 years of opening we now employ over 100 staff and source all our products and services within 10 miles of York.
My passion is nursery care and food and I hope to encourage other providers with research and example.
I was lucky enough to win the North of England’s Business Accelerator Award in 2012. The nursery is an Investor in People and we hold one of only three Gold Awards in the UK from the Soil Association for our Catering.
I currently sit on the Soil Association’s Committee and I advise on various Boards relating to Childcare. I am a very busy mother of 3 but quite simply - I wouldn't have it any other way!
