Not only do we follow the seven key areas of learning and development set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage, we also look to introduce our rascals to a number of other learning experiences. We invite guest sessions into nursery for either a one-off taster session or a full course. The children take part in weekly sessions with Claire from Tatty Bumpkin, who conducts a yoga inspired fun exercise class and Scientots, short sessions that inspire a love of science. We also hold weekly classes for Ballet, Rugbytots, French and Spanish at our Tadcaster Road site. We regularly welcome parents with a particular skill to spend time with our rascals, including a team of firefighters, bakers and musicians too, enhancing learning and development with new experiences.
At Little Green Rascals, we are continually looking for ways to inspire and develop our children and believe that our Forest School enables us to do just that. Allowing our children to explore, take risks and enjoy the outdoors in a safe and controlled environment, encourages confidence communication and relationships. Every activity we offer must enhance our children and their development. We are proud to have trained six members of staff – who have successfully qualified as Level 3 qualified Forest School Practitioners, and two more are being trained in 2017.
Our activities are not only aimed at the children we care for but also for our parents and families too! We have a packed events calendar for the year to give our families the opportunity to meet and socialise. These events include our annual Camping Night, Forest School Open Days, Grandparents Afternoons, Parent Days and our Christmas Nativities. We also choose a number of charitable organisations to support throughout the year, such as Children in Need, Barnardo's, Macmillan and Candlelighters which may entail either fancy dress for the staff and children or a fun activity to raise sponsorship money.
