Not only do we follow the seven key areas of learning and development set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage, we also look to introduce our rascals to a number of other learning experiences. We invite guest sessions into nursery for either a one-off taster session or a full course. The children take part in various weekly sessions from yoga to rugby – these classes may vary depending on the site.
We regularly welcome parents with a particular skill to spend time with our rascals, including a team of firefighters, bakers and musicians too. We find that meeting new people and showing or talking about their skills really enhances their learning and development of the world around them. After all, our rascals think their parents and carers are superheroes – so we want to show everyone just how talented they are!
At Little Green Rascals, we are continually looking for ways to inspire and develop our children and believe that our Forest School enables us to do just that. Allowing our children to explore, take risks and enjoy the outdoors in a safe and controlled environment, encourages confidence communication and relationships. Every activity we offer must enhance our children and their development. We are proud to have trained one of the biggest Forest School Teams in the county – all our members have successfully qualified as Level 3 qualified Forest School Practitioners and we continue to offer the training to staff members who wish to join.
Our activities are not only aimed at the children we care for but also for our parents and families too! We have a packed events calendar for the year to give our families the opportunity to meet and socialise. These events include our annual Camping Night, Forest School Open Days, Grandparents Afternoons, Parent Days and our Christmas Nativities. We also choose a number of charitable organisations to support throughout the year, such as Children in Need, Barnardo's, Macmillan and Candlelighters which may entail either fancy dress for the staff and children or a fun activity to raise sponsorship money.
We can safely say that we try to offer a varied day/week at all of our settings and ensure that weekends and days offs are to simply recharge your batteries ready for another exciting adventure at Nursery.
