In March 2017 Little Green Rascals opened its doors in the lovely village of Bishopthorpe. Our exciting new setting offers both nursery care for children aged 2 – 5 years and wraparound care both before and after school which includes scrumptious freshly prepared organic meals and snack all cooked on site by our lovely cook Michelle. Our holiday play scheme is available for all children aged 5 - 14 years and can be booked on an ad hoc basis for each school holiday subject to availability.
The setting boasts 3 beautiful rooms which are named as The Hive, The Oak Room and the Green Room offering a family group style for the key person system with mixed aged rooms, which is unique from all our other LGR settings. We are based within the old school building opposite the library and we drop off and collect from Bishopthorpe Infants school and Archbishop of York CE Junior School, however, in the holidays we are happy to provide care for children from any school on an ad hoc basis subject to availability.
We provide an enabling environment both indoors and outdoors with a range of super exciting activities supporting learning and development for each child as an individual. We offer a range of optional extra-curricular activities such as Forest School, Science classes, Yoga, Drama, French and Spanish lessons, ballet and lots of other sporty classes which are great fun for our little rascals. The idea behind these extra classes is to give you more of that important ‘family time’ at the weekends so we offer many hobbies during nursery hours. We involve our rascals in the decision making process and they support the planning of activities choosing particular topics of focus.
We also offer classes for adults too, ranging from parenting courses to mummy and baby yoga - not forgetting gardening club for any GREEN fingers. We love for our families, including aunts, uncles and those all-important grandparents too, to get involved in any way they can!
The setting is quite unique and we have restored some of its original features, with beautiful high ceilings and panelling. It is all presented in its own individual Little Green Rascals way bringing the ‘outdoors indoors’. I would encourage you to come and have a look around with no obligation to book and meet the lovely team - if you’re lucky, there may even be some yummy cake on offer!
