Our nursery has been open now since June 2014 and is managed by Rebecca Casserly, who comes from a background working with various children’s organisations. We are an organic, family owned nursery, and are lucky enough to welcome 118 children through our doors each day, where they can play and learn in a safe, secure and inspiring setting.
The nursery is conveniently located on Tadcaster Road, in a 3 story building, directly opposite the York Racecourse. We are situated on a number of main bus routes into York, and we have a 12-space car park as well as a bike park, and a buggy shelter, suitable for parents who live close by.
The nursery has six rooms, in which our extensive qualified staff team care for children from birth to 5 years. Each room runs at an Ofsted-regulated ratio helping the children reach their full learning potential, whilst having access to an exciting array of toys and media to enhance their personal development. For more information on each of our rooms click here.
The same ethos that has been instilled into the successful growth of our first nursery at Elvington, lives on at Tadcaster Road. Our organic food is prepared in-house by our chefs, featuring herbs and vegetables from our kitchen gardens. We have one meat-free day per week, and encourage our children to try new ingredients such as liver, fish, beetroot and olives. Our nappies, creams and ointments all remain organic or ethically sourced. Where possible, we use and suggest homeopathic remedies, before administering creams and ointments that would contain a minimal amount of chemicals. The physical and mental wellbeing of each individual child is of paramount importance to us here at Little Green Rascals. That’s why we recognise that a good snuggle can help to settle any child when they are not with their parents’. It is also why our Rascals have daily access to our extensive gardens, where they can ride bicycles and scooters, play in the mud kitchens and learn in the great outdoors.
Our Forest School Approach also continues into our second nursery. We are presently securing the site for a Forest School that is within 3 miles of our nursery, where the children can learn to take calculated risks, use tools with guidance, and explore the outdoor environment whilst under supervision. From previous experience, it is here where the children really thrive, their confidence rockets and their ability to learn as well as their personality’s blossom.
Parent Partnerships are equally important to us at Tadcaster Road. We send a weekly communication email to each parent including a little snapshot of our week and some important information.
