My husband and I had planned to visit a few nurseries before deciding where to send Oliver, however after visiting LGR we knew there was no point visiting anywhere else! As soon as we entered the baby room we knew he would be so happy there, it was such a lovely warm atmosphere and it was obvious that he would be very safe and well looked after.
When Oliver came for his settling in sessions he really struggled as we hadn't spent much time apart yet. Oliver's key worker reassured us so much by sending updates, pictures and she arranged for him to do 6 extra sessions! This was absolutely the right thing to do and by the time he started properly he was brilliantly settled and is loving his time at nursery.
We have recommended LGR to all our friends and couldn't be more impressed. Our only criticism is that we are very envious of the amazing meals he gets!

We chose LGR after hearing only amazing feedback from others. When we went to see it, it was with a view to put our daughter on the waiting list for when she was 2 as we planned to use a childminder for her first year of childcare. The minute we stepped in the building we knew we wanted this setting from the offset. The staff are extremely highly skilled, the range of activities on offer is brilliant and the food is varied, healthy and yummy. Our daughter has a number of food allergies and they are managed so well by the team at LGR, we really couldn't ask for better. We are so happy our daughter is getting the experiences she is, with the team she is, in the environmentally aware setting she is, if you're thinking of sending your little one here, do it!

All you need to know is I have to drag my 2 kids away from there every time I pick them up!

LGR is simply outstanding. This does relate to the last few months, I have been with them for over three years and I simply cannot fault anything they have done. They handle absolutely everything with professionalism, tact and empathy, be that child or parent related. Children in their care thrive under a variety of stimulating and fun activities and come home full of stories of what the and their friends have been doing. They engender an ethos of kindness, generosity and doing the right thing and ensure each child has the individual care, attention and developmental program that they need. Their management is efficient, understanding and effective and the food excellent; wholesome and delicious. Their approach to the care of the children throughout the COVID pandemic was second to none. I felt my son, their staff and the parental circle were cared for, kept safe and allowed to function with support and empathy throughout lockdown and beyond. Simply outstanding. Thank you LGR.

My son has attended LGR at Bishopthorpe since July 2017 and I can not praise the staff enough! They are absolutely fantastic, they ensured he settled well and he loves going to nursery. He enjoys playing and I have found that the team have really encouraged my son to learn and develop at his pace. I love that the team understand what the kids enjoy and use this for a variety of play based learning. The outdoor learning area is fantastic and the forest school offering is brilliant - my son loves being outdoors and loves going to the woods to play! The additional activities that occur outside of the standard setting also enable parents to enjoy the setting with their child. Activities such as the forest school open day, tree decorating evening and camping are excellent opportunities for our son to show us around his play areas and to meet the many friends he talks about! The staff are fantastic and having recently had another child, when the time comes, we will definitely be sending him to LGR too!

I cannot recommend LGR Tadcaster Road enough to family and friends. My eldest, now at school, benefitted from the wide range of activities and experiences on offer at LGR, encouraging her to be independent, individual and to have lots of fun at the same time! There are so many activities for them to get involved in. She especially enjoyed forest school, drama classes, science tots, ballet and of course the delicious food (which is far nicer than I can cook at home and super nutritious too!) We can see that this has stood her in good stead for school. My youngest is halfway through his journey at LGR and has settled in really well thanks to the caring support of the practitioners. He especially loves the natural outdoor space with lots of clever activities to challenge him and develop his physical skills, his trips to the local library/playground/duck pond and learning lots of nursery rhymes. This is not just a nursery but a big extended family for the children. As they walk around the nursery many of the staff are so friendly and chat to them, helping them feel at home. I feel lucky that my children have had the opportunity to attend in the early years of their life.

I have put my two boys through LGR at Elvington and it has been a wonderful journey. My eldest started school confidently and ready! My youngest couldn’t be happier there. The daily adventures, the genuine love and care from the staff and the delicious organic home cooked meals make it a fabulous nursery and pre-school. I wouldn’t have them anywhere else.

What we value above all about LGR is that it manages to find that perfect balance between offering a safe and nurturing space and at the same time encouraging the children to explore the world around them with confidence, to learn, be creative and to thrive. My son came home tonight and told me we live on earth, the earth spins and he was going to live on Jupiter! How great is that?

Little Green Rascals have literally changed my life! I recently started study at York University as a mature student, and I knew finding my 21 month old a nursery that combined outdoor play, ethical choices, nutritious meals and loving friendly staff was a priority. As soon as I walked through the door I knew LGR was the place for my son. As a sole parent & student, the management and staff have always supported me and I already feel part of the LGR family. My son, who has always been very attached to me, took to the nursery within a matter of days, and now its hard to pull him away. To watch him thrive and be cared for by the most amazing team, is inspiring to see and gives you absolute peace of mind. Every parent needs a LGR!

My 15 month old has been going to LGR in Flaxton for almost 3 months now, he settled in straight away and all the girls are so lovely with him. Even though it’s not the closest nursery, I specifically chose this one as I immediately felt a comforting and calming atmosphere and the home cooked food always smells delicious! I knew straight away it was the right place for my son. I love the daily activity report on the Famly app and I get picture updates and a learning progress report which is always reassuring. It’s hard enough going back to work and leaving him but I know he is getting the very best care.

We have been a Little Green Rascals family since 2013 and our 3rd rascal is now in Cheeky Hens. We were drawn to LGR by the outdoor space and forest school and have not been dissapointed with either. All our littles ones have LOVED the forest. Mark and his team are amazing. They have also eaten a far more interesting and varied diet than they would have at home! I'm often jealous of the food they are served! Highly recommended.

My little girl has attended Flaxton LGR since January 2018 and started in the Wiggly Worms baby room. Sending your baby to nursery is really tough to begin with and I'll never forget Hannah's kind words and gift bag she gave me on our first day. We had 5 weeks or so of tears at each drop and then soon my little one was happy to go to her key workers on a morning. She enjoyed helping with the nursery hamster and role playing looking after the other younger babies. I am pleased the staff take the time to recognise what interests each individual child and that there is an importance of family and what that looks like for the children. The meals and snacks are great and there is good variety and a good balance of food groups. Sleep times are on an individual basis and the children's cues are looked for by the staff, I thought this was great in the baby room as they were not expected to sleep at the same time as staff understood they may have routine at home. My little girl has now gone down to the Cheeky Hens room and she is really enjoying the variety of activities and Indoor and outdoor play. As one of the youngest I feel it is important that she is still receiving lots of input from her key worker which so far seems to be the case. I would recommend Flaxton LGR to other parents. I like the fact that it is small and personal.
