Sarah teaches Ballet class on a Wednesday afternoon at Little Green Rascals. The class is a blend of ballet technique exercises and creative exploration of choreography through teacher and self-explored movement. In a safe environment, where each child can build their confidence, their basic ballet technique is nurtured and musicality is developed. Cognitive learning is stimulated by classical movement and children are involved in exercises that increase memory and the ability to communicate through movement.
Sarah started dancing from a young age where she studied her RAD ballet grades at a local school in York. At the age of 16 years old, she gained a place at Northern School of Contemporary Dance and underwent 4 years of intensive dance training to complete her Dance Degree. In addition to her time at NSCD, Sarah also studied Dance at Dance City in Newcastle. She gained her BA (Hons) from Northumbria University in 2002 and returned to York to teach Contemporary and Ballet in a variety of schools around the city. Sarah continued her dance training with BBC Strictly Come Dancing Professionals Matthew and Nicole Cutler until 2010 where she furthered her knowledge of dance in the field of Latin American. During this 7 year period, Sarah was also Course Leader for the Dance courses at York College and studied her PGCE qualification in which she graduated in 2006. Sarah also currently works in a number of private schools in the city of York offering Ballet classes to children from early years to key stage 2.
Sarah is passionate about teaching and how she can encourage the best out of each student. She brings to her classes a range of teaching methods and various experiences that makes her classes exciting, fun and interesting.
