Welcome to our Careers Page
If you’re looking to join a multiple award winning company with an outstanding reputation, this is the place to start.
We operate across seven beautiful sites (each individual and magical in their own right), with a family of over 200 employees, making Little Green Rascals one of the largest independent and family owned employers in the childcare sector in Yorkshire. We look after over 900 families across York - who want excellent, ethical and quality childcare for their rascals.
Our people are as unique as our offering and come from a range of backgrounds and disciplines – we have staff who have followed the traditional childcare route through studying at college, former school teachers who still want to help educate and shape our future generations, parents who had a corporate life and are looking for something different and more rewarding, grandparents who want to stay active and some who just knew they would enjoy the daily rewards that working in Early Years brings. This contributes to a rich cross generational, multi-talented environment in which to work.
We are no ordinary nursery group - our last 4 Oftsed Inspections have awarded us the highest rating of Outstanding and therefore we are always on the lookout for outstanding people too - those who want to do a great job, be committed to our ethos and values. In return we offer a great place to work, rewarding careers and fantastic career development opportunities.
Your Career at LGR
When you join our family, we encourage, inspire and support you to be the best you can be, by supporting you both personally and professionally. We actively encourage you to complete further education and continuously update and implement best practice at work.
We look to recruit for a minimum qualification of Level 3 in Childcare for our Practitioner vacancies as we believe this fits well into the standard of childcare we are striving to deliver. We are very fortunate to have a number of Early Years Professionals as part of our Nursery Management Team – who continuously share their knowledge and experience with their peers. We also look to offer opportunities for Modern Apprenticeships so that we can offer a route to harness fresh new talent into the childcare sector.
As part of our team, you will benefit from a competitive salary, flexible working including a four day week for some roles, career opportunities, professional development and staff benefits which include additional annual leave entitlement for length of service, regular staff social events (hosted by the business), homeopathic healthcare and lots more besides.
If you are looking to work for a dynamic, forward thinking and ethical company then please click on the current vacancies to see what we currently have available.
Responsible & Ethical Business Practices
We care about reducing our impact on the environment and operating as a responsible business - therefore everything brought into the business externally and everything we dispose of must have as little impact on the environment as possible - this is something that we continually assess and measure as new processes and products become available.
Why Little Green Rascals?
So you may be asking yourself why us? What makes us different to your other local nursery business? Here are just a few points to consider:
- We are a local family owned business and work hard to support local businesses, suppliers and independents.
- We were the first fully organic and green nursery in the North of England and have pioneered the Forest School initiative - even helping to train practitioners outside of our nursery group.
- We recognise, nurture and reward talent
- We are driven by a set of values that inform how we act on a day to day basis.
